Contains a minor change for user roles and was tested against wp 2.8.1. If you are having trouble finding the NAVT List menu item once the plugin is activated I suggest you do the following:
- Temporarily change the permissions on the NAVT directory to 777.
- Reactivate the NAVT plugin.
- Change the NAVT directory permissions to 755
As of version 1.0.29, NAVT needs to create a file in it’s own installation directory – the file is only created once. If it can’t create the file then it will not display the NAVT List menu item.
You may find that the Word Press automatic plugin upgrade routine removes all files from the previous version and you may have to temporarily change the permissions on the NAVT directory after upgrading. Make sure you change the permissions back to 755 after activating the plugin.
Thanks for the plugin — it sounds great. But I installed it today and couldn’t find the NAVT List menu item. I was happy to find this post suggesting a solution, but I’ve chmodded the directory to 777 and have deactivated and reactivated the plugin several times — still can’t find it. Is it supposed to show up on the “Manage Plugins” page in WordPress admin?
Amanda,
The NAVT Lists menu item appears under “Tools”. Once you’ve activated it you should see a file in the NAVT directory called wp-root.php
Is there any way to export or save NAVT settings / menus? Also, just a heads up, the donate link on the WP NAVT page is bad….
Awesome plugin!!
FYI,
I find there is a problem when using Safari 4. It does not save any changes when you drag and drop within the interface. It cleared all saved nav lists when you try and modify anything. I had to go back and use Firefox or IE to correct the issue.
Good day and thanks for the plugin! I do have one question about it though. Is there any way to add in the ability to put posts into menus? This would truly be an innovated and elsewhere unseen ability.
Thanks!
Frank
Your plugin is awesome, one of the best for WP, in my opinion.
For several versions now, including the upgrade to 1.0.33, there is no way to backup/restore my list groups… or maybe I am just not seeing it? In older versions there used to be links to backup and restore but now they are gone and I would really feel better if I could have backup functionality… any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
Hi Greg
Im running WP 2.8.1 and after updating to NAVT 1.0.33 I get an “BlockUI requires Jquery v1.2.3″ error when entering the NAVT menu and all my widgets have been blocked by the plugin. After deactivating it, everything is back to normal. I loved the plugin but due to the new update cannot run it. Is there way I can revert back to the older version?
You can get a copy of older versions here:

I removed the backup functionality sometime back because it wasn’t working correctly. As soon as I fix or change the code I’ll put it back in.
Currently there isn’t a way to backup the NAVT information stored in the database table unless you backup the database itself. Thanks for the heads up on the donate link. The link should point to this site. http://atalayastudio.com
Hi,
Just trying out the plugin. Is there a comprehensive set of documentation anywhere?
I created a navigation group and wanted it to show up using the widget, but the widget cannot be dragged to the sidebar. It’s there, but it seems inactive.
Any idea why?
Thanks,
Michael
Michael – If the widget can’t be dragged to the sidebar then I suspect none of the widgets can be dragged to the sidebar. Typically, that indicates that another plugin is interfering with the Word Press Drag/Drop functionality. You can try deactivating plugins until it begins working or you can try this: go to the Appearance/Widgets page, select the Screen Options button under the Word Press menu at the top of the screen, select “Enable accessibility mode”. That will enable an alternative way of placing the widget in the sidebar. As for documentation, the NAVT page has a fairly comprehensive set of HELP buttons that are designated with a ?
Actually, it seems that if I locked the menu list. I could then use it via the widget.
Hello
I’m trying the latest version of NAVT plugin on the latest version of WP, but it happens that I have the same issue as Michael. When I try to add the widget, it appears empty, and I am not able to drag it to the side bar.
This is the only widget i cannot drag and it is the only plugin activated on the site. Could it be related to the fact that I am on my localhost (WampServer) ?
It worked when I tried your solution with the menu option “enable accessibility mode”. But I think there is an issue somewhere.
Just in case here is the steps for repro :
- configuration : Localhost on Wampserver – tested on FireFox only
- step 1 : intallation of the plugin : OK
- step 2 : settings of my navigation groups : OK
- step 3 : in the “Appearance > widget page” > the NAVT widget appears empty (just a description appears under the cell).
- step 4 : try to drag the widget into the side bar > not working
- step 5 : activating the accessibility mode -> possibility to add the widget thanks to a link -> OK
Hope this will help.
Thank you for this useful plugin anyway
!
Best regards
Richard
