Today I released NAVT version 1.0.8 and added the Russian language files. The translation was done by Dmitriy Kostromin. Thank-you Dmitriy for your help. I had to make a few minor adjustments to the height of the help windows to accommodate the length of sentences in Russian. I hope this language addition helps our Russian friends.
Looking for Translators
If you’d like to translate the NAVT language file into your local language leave a comment and tell me which language you’d like to translate.
To do a translation for NAVT:
- Get the current version of NAVT
- Make a copy of the file: <root>/wp-contents/plugins/<navt directory>/app/lang/navt.po – this is the base string file that you translate. The file must be named navt-LC_CC.po where LC is the language code and CC is the country code. For example, navt-ru_RU.po is the Russian language file. Language codes are listed in the document ISO 639-2 (second column) Country codes are listed in the document ISO 3166-1 here (in the first column in the table). The language and country codes are separated by an underscore character (_)
- Get the translation tool from here and install it on your computer.
- Open your navt-LC_CC.po file with the translation tool.
- Select the menu item CATALOG/SETTINGS to open the settings dialog box. On the ProjectInfo tab enter your name, email address, select the language and the country – be sure the charset is UTF-8.
- The translation tool is fairly easy to use – select a sentence from the list and translate the sentence by entering the translation in the box provided.
- When you have completed the translation, send me an email at greg @ gbellucci . us with your navt-LC_CC.po file as an attachment. Please include your name so I can give you credit for the translation on the NAVT download page. I will add your file to the navt plugin.
